Nani Gopal’s resilience and dedication to principles would profoundly influence his son, shaping Amar’s life and career.

In his youth, Amar began repairing radios to support his family, sparking his fascination with electronics. With his father’s encouragement and practical guidance, Amar developed both technical skill and a strong work ethic. This early experience set the foundation for his academic and professional success. He later attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he excelled in electrical engineering and explored acoustics, the field that would define his legacy.

After joining the MIT faculty in 1964, Amar was encouraged by his mentor, Professor Y. W. Lee, to start his own company. Naming it "Bose" to allow for future growth, Amar launched the business with a focus on redefining the listening experience. His commitment to excellence led to pioneering products like high-performance speaker systems and noise-canceling headphones, establishing Bose Corporation as a leader in audio technology.
