External Internship Program at the Elite School of Optometry (ESO)

We are delighted to announce the launch of the External Internship Program at the Elite School of Optometry (ESO) for the academic year 2025-26. This internship opportunity will be coordinated by the ESO units in both Chennai and Kolkata.

Program Overview:

The External Internship, spanning from July to December, offers a six-month comprehensive training designed to advance interns' clinical and practical knowledge. Participants will engage in a variety of learning experiences, including OPD observations, Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions, community outreach, and thorough screening programs, covering school, adult, and occupational optometry screenings.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must have successfully passed all theoretical exams up to their third year to be eligible.

The selection process involves an online theoretical assessment (with a minimum pass mark of 50%) followed by an interview led by a panel of experts to evaluate each applicant’s suitability.

Key Dates and Timeline:

Application Period: Opens in April each year. Application forms will be available on the ESO Chennai and Kolkata websites.

Application Deadline: 31st May 2025

Online Exam & Interview: Scheduled for the second week of June 2025

Subjects Included: Core optometry subjects such as Optics, Ocular Diseases, Optometric Instruments, and Clinical Integration.

Internship Duration: 1st July to 31st December

Extension Option: Based on performance and attendance, an additional six-month extension may be offered to selected candidates.
