Since its inception in 1978, Sankara Nethralaya (SN) has been a trailblazer in delivering world-class eye care. Founded by the visionary Dr. S. S. Badrinath and blessed by the Kanchi Paramacharyas, SN has upheld its mission of eradicating avoidable blindness through clinical excellence, research, education, and community outreach. Recognized globally, it has become a "temple of the eye," serving millions across India.

In 1985, the Elite School of Optometry (ESO) in Chennai revolutionized optometric education, setting new benchmarks for academic and clinical training. ESO's graduates and research contributions have shaped the future of vision care globally, embodying a legacy of excellence.

The Eastern Frontier: Sankara Nethralaya Kolkata
Expanding this vision to Eastern India, Sankara Nethralaya established its Kolkata center in 2002, delivering advanced ophthalmic care and pioneering academic mentorship. Building on this foundation, the Elite School of Optometry Kolkata (SNESO Kolkata) was launched in 2024, marking a new era in optometric education for the region.
