๐ŸŒŸ A Memorable Day at SNESO Kolkata ๐ŸŒŸ

With immense respect and gratitude, we had the privilege of hosting Dr. R. Krishna Kumar (KK) at the Sankara Nethralaya Elite School of Optometry (SNESO) Kolkata Campus today, 20th December 2024.

Dr. KK, an esteemed alumnus of Elite School of Optometry (ESO) Chennai BO4, former Senior Optometrist and Head Optometry Department at SN Main Chennai, and former Principal of ESO Chennai, shared his invaluable insights with our BOptom undergraduate students. Currently serving as an Advisor, Optometry Department, SN Main Chennai, and a renowned Geriatric Optometrist, his interaction was a treasure trove of knowledge and inspiration.

A heartfelt thanks to Assistant Professor Mousumi Patro for beautifully capturing these moments, Ekta Saha, Administrator SNESO Kolkata, for her meticulous arrangements, and Dr. Anuradha Narayanan, Principal ESO Chennai and Kolkata, for making this enriching experience possible.

Why is our language called ‘Tamizh’? Ki. Va. Jagannathan (Ki. Va. Ja.), the legendary Tamil scholar and literary visionary, once found himself in the divine presence of Periyava, when a question was posed that momentarily stilled his erudition: “Why is our language called ‘Tamizh’?” Taken aback, Ki. Va. Ja. admitted with humility that he had never contemplated that question deeply. He reflected, “If someone were to ask me about the greatness of Tamizh, I could speak for hours—on its antiquity, its grammar, its literature, its uniqueness among world languages. But why it is called ‘Tamizh’—I do not know.” With characteristic grace, Periyava smiled and said: “This is merely my thought—neither confirmed by scholars nor inscribed in any linguistic doctrine.
