Born on March 30, 1967, in Hyderabad, India, his early passion for movies was kindled by frequent visits to local theaters in Narayanguda. Kukunoor initially pursued a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at Osmania University before moving to the United States for a master's degree in Environmental Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology.
