Celebrating the divine wisdom of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa on his birth anniversary 18th February. May his teachings of unity and love guide us all. "I have practised all religions - Hinduism, Islam, Christianity - and I have also followed the paths of the different Hindu sects. I have found that it is the same God toward whom all are directing their steps, though along different paths. You must try all beliefs and traverse all the different ways once. Wherever I look, I see men quarrelling in the name of religion - Hindus, Mohammedans, Brahmos, Vaishnavas, and the rest. But they never reflect that He who is called Krishna is also called Siva, and bears the name of the Primal Energy, Jesus, and Allah as well - the same Rama with a thousand names. A lake has several Ghats. At one, the Hindus take water in pitchers and call it ' Jal ' ; at another the Mussalmans take water in leather bags and call it ' pani '. At a third the Christians call it ' wate...

🌊 Saturday lunch at Mangalore Pearl, Ulsoor —a nostalgic homecoming! 🍛🥥 Coastal Karnataka flavors took me back to my Bengaluru childhood (early '80s) . 🚲🏡 A stop at Ulsoor Lake made the memories even richer. From Bengaluru (early '80s) ➡️ Chennai (late '80s & '90s) 🎓 ➡️ Hyderabad (early 2000s) 🏢 ➡️ Kolkata (mid-2000s) 🎭 , I’ve witnessed India’s great cities evolve—from old Bengaluru’s charm to Chennai’s resilience, Hyderabad’s tech boom, and Kolkata’s cultural soul. 🏙️✨ And now, with Tisham back in Bengaluru for college, life feels like it has come full circle. 🔄💖 Time moves on, but some connections are eternal. 😊✨ Venkataramanan Ramasethu 15th Feb 2025 🎶☕

Thaipusam 2025: A Journey of Devotion and Penance Thaipusam is not just a festival; it is a deeply spiritual journey undertaken by devotees seeking divine grace, purification, and redemption. Observed on the full moon day in the Tamil month of Thai, Thaipusam marks the celestial convergence of divine energy, as it commemorates the day when Goddess Parvati gifted the sacred Vel (spear) to Lord Murugan to vanquish the forces of darkness. This sacred occasion is an embodiment of unwavering faith, self-discipline, and surrender to the divine. The Kavadi Attam, the most striking aspect of Thaipusam, is not a mere ritual but an intense spiritual offering, where devotees carry elaborately decorated kavadis (burdens) on their shoulders, walk barefoot for miles, and engage in acts of piercing, symbolizing the transcendence of worldly pain through divine love. The body, subjected to austerities, becomes a conduit for spiritual elevation, and every step taken in devotion is a surrende...

In the grand theaters of the 19th century, long before the brilliance of electric lighting transformed the stage, a remarkable invention illuminated the world of drama—the limelight. As depicted in this evocative image, a theater technician carefully tends to a specialized lamp, where a block of calcium oxide, known as quicklime, is heated to an incandescent glow. This mesmerizing white light, produced by burning a jet of oxyhydrogen gas against the quicklime, bathed actors in an ethereal radiance, ensuring they remained the focal point of the performance. The effect was so striking that even those seated in the farthest balconies could witness the nuances of expression and movement. The innovation of limelight not only revolutionized stagecraft but also gifted us a phrase that endures to this day—“in the limelight”—symbolizing prominence and recognition. It was the very glow of these lamps that turned actors into stars, quite literally illuminating their presence before ...
